Games I Recommend
Not sure what games to play next? I have plenty of suggestions, and I cherry picked ten games that are top quality and will be a great use of your time. I also definitely recommend keeping an eye out for the Epic Games free game every two weeks, as I got a lot of these games from the giveaways for free.
Detroit: Become Human
Detroit: Become Human is set in the future city of Detroit in 2038, where humanoid androids are used everywhere, in the workforce and at home. You play from the perspectives of three different androids, and each choice you take will affect the story. When androids gain consciousness, what happens? You get to decide the fate of the world, since there are multiple endings. All the characters are multi-dimensional, and the story arcs are all fantastic.
Hollow Knight
Hollow Knight is a beautiful indie game, where you enter the vast world of bugs that you explore. You fight unique bosses and meet interesting NPCs, all of whom are bugs. The world is intricate, it’s huge and filled with fascinating lore if you look.
Minecraft
Minecraft is one of the most popular games ever, and is one I play a lot. The game has infinite possibilities of how you can play. Whether you like to play alone, play in the gritty hardcore mode, build huge structures in creative, or play with friends, is up to you. In addition, you can join servers for more options on how to play. It’s a very creative game, and the game keeps releasing new updates, which adds new and unique aspects.
Life Is Strange
Life Is Strange is a game where you play as Max Caulfield, a teen with time rewinding powers. It’s an emotional game where you make difficult choices. You deal with various problems, ranging from typical teenage drama, to an impeding tornado, to trying to solve the mystery of a missing girl. The title perfectly sums up the game, Life Is Strange, as strange and unforeseeable circumstances arise.
Tell Me Why
In Tell Me Why, you play as Tyler and Alyson Ronan, twins who go back to their childhood home in Alaska to sell it. Going back brings back new memories surrounding their childhood and the mystery of their mother’s death. You help them uncover the secrets and mystery to try to understand what truly happened. The game is emotional, and the well crafted story and Alaskan wilderness is beautiful.
Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is all about the small farm lifestyle, where you can play by yourself, or with friends, peacefully grow your crops, go fishing, or socialize with the townspeople. It’s a relaxing escape from the business of the modern world, and you can even have pets! The world of Stardew Valley is charming, and filled with magic.
Oxenfree
Olly, Olly, Oxenfree! Oxenfree is a supernatural game following a group of teens staying overnight on an island. It’s a shorter game, around 4 hours long, but the story is sweet and it’s just the right amount of spooky, with inexplicable strange things happening throughout the story. The characters are well rounded, and you uncover more as the game progresses.
Celeste
Celeste at first glance is just a pixelated 2D platformer game. But as you play, you realize that the game is deeper than just that. You play as Celeste, a girl determined on climbing a mountain, but is faced with fears and self doubt. Her inner demon even manifests itself in the game. The game has a deep message, on how to accept yourself . It also has a quick respawn time and sharp controls, which makes this game amazingly fun. It’s challenging enough for the sense of accomplishment, but somehow manages to not be frustrating.
This War of Mine
This game is depressing, to say the least. You play as a group of civilians living in the middle of a war. Each day you feel more and more helpless, as sickness, starvation, and sadness as you try to survive. The amount of detail and the reality of difficult choices in this game makes it such a realistic portrayal of war. Should you steal from an elderly couple or starve to death? It’s a game that is amazing, but you never want to play it again.
